This Cookie Policy explains which storage technologies the Astrokod website uses, for what purposes and how visitors can manage their consent to analytics.

2. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on a user's device when they visit a website.

Browser local storage (localStorage) can serve a similar purpose by allowing the website to remember a setting on the device without sending that setting to the server.

3. Types of storage and cookies we use

The current Astrokod implementation uses the following categories:

Essential preference storage

Astrokod does not set a separate essential cookie for the website to operate. The choice to accept or reject analytics is stored in the browser's local storage under the identifier astrokod-analytics-consent-v1.

This storage is used only to remember the selected preference. It is not used to track visits or create profiles.

Analytics cookies

With the visitor's consent, Astrokod uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand website visits and how content is used.

The GA4 script does not load before analytics consent is given. After consent, Google may set the _ga and _ga_<measurement identifier> cookies, which may last for up to two years under the default settings.

If a visitor does not consent to analytics, GA4 does not load and Astrokod does not set analytics cookies.

Marketing cookies

Astrokod does not use marketing cookies, remarketing or behavioural advertising.

Google's advertising consent settings remain denied regardless of the visitor's analytics preference.

4. Google Analytics

If a visitor consents to analytics, the website loads Google Analytics 4 to produce visit statistics and better understand how content is used.

In its standard implementation, GA4 may process data such as:

numbers of users, visits and sessions
pages viewed and basic interactions with content
visit duration and event time
approximate geographical location
device, operating system and browser type
the source or link through which the visitor arrived at the website

Google may process this data in accordance with its Privacy Policy and terms of service.

Form content and email addresses are not sent to Google Analytics.

5. Managing consent and cookies

On a first visit, if no previous preference has been stored, Astrokod displays a notice allowing the visitor to accept or reject analytics.

The preference can later be changed through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. If previously accepted analytics is rejected, GA4 is disabled and Astrokod attempts to remove its cookies from the current domain.

Clearing the website's data in the browser also clears the stored preference, so the notice will appear again on the next visit.

Browser settings may also allow visitors to:

delete existing cookies
block cookies
receive a warning before cookies are stored
manage cookies and local storage for individual websites

Rejecting analytics cookies does not prevent access to the website's content or essential functions.

6. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the tools we use, the technical structure of the website or applicable law.
