Saturn and Neptune at the Beginning of the Zodiac - A Beginning We Have Not Seen for Millennia

The conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at the 1st degree of Aries brings an astrological turning point - the beginning of a new cycle after more than 9,000 years.

In 2020, much changed and began to change. The phrase "new normal" entered everyday vocabulary. That year we spoke about how the two planets responsible for the social plane - Jupiter and Saturn - had finally moved from the earth element into the air element, thereby announcing the real beginning of the Age of Aquarius.

Jupiter and Saturn form conjunctions every 20 years, in the same element for roughly 200 years in a row. After that comes a conjunction in a new element, marking a deeper social change. There is no agreed view about the exact beginning of the Age of Aquarius, but in practice it began to be felt already from the start of the Industrial Revolution and positivist, materialist thinking - in contrast to the earlier religious, "Piscean" worldview. That transition broke the old foundations and prepared civilization for a new age.

Some place the beginning of the Age of Aquarius at the very beginning of the 20th century, with the publication of the theory of relativity and the first human flight by airplane. The emergence of globalism and the struggle for human rights are also significant symptoms of that shift.

As for the smaller cycle, personal computers and the internet appeared precisely with the first conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the air element, while the period from 2000 to 2020 was marked by the last impulse of the earth element - technology was then still primarily, or becoming primarily, in the service of profit.

Since 2020 and the transition into the air cycle, we have been experiencing a complete change of social structures - from modes of communication to the financial system. Physical cash, for example, is increasingly giving way to airy forms of exchange such as cryptocurrencies. Data is now more valuable than bars of gold.

We have already written about all this, but it is not the end of the story. Astrology knows several cycles, and one is now unfolding whose duration stands between the "smaller" 200-year cycles and the largest, precessional cycle of approximately 25,800 years - the so-called Platonic year, which encompasses 12 astrological ages of about 2,000 years each.

This cycle is marked by the conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at the 1st degree of Aries, that is, at the very beginning of the Zodiac - which makes this moment exceptionally significant.

The conjunction of Neptune and Saturn in Aries

Since May 25, 2025, both Saturn and Neptune have entered Aries. At the beginning of autumn they temporarily return to Pisces, and in February 2026 they finally move into the new sign.

After spending a long time in Pisces - the sign of ending, passivity, dreams, sacrifice, and collective dissolution - their joint movement into Aries brings a complete turn. Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, the symbol of initiative, action, pioneering spirit, and individual awakening.

Saturn in Aries brings structure and responsibility to individual will - it asks us to take the helm of our life and set clear boundaries. At the same time, Neptune in Aries activates dreams, ideals, and spiritual longing - but no longer in a passive, meditative tone, rather through action, struggle, and courage. This is a call to embody the spiritual in the concrete. Their simultaneous presence in Aries represents a call to integrate spiritual vision (Neptune) through personal responsibility and concrete action (Saturn). Instead of waiting for someone else to "save the world," we become the ones who carry the vision and enact it in reality.

A beginning that has not happened for 9,000 years

From February 20, 2026, Neptune and Saturn finally form their exact conjunction at the 1st degree of Aries - therefore, at the very beginning of the Zodiac. Anyone who follows astrology knows that the beginning is exceptionally important, because according to astrological understanding the very inception contains everything - the course and the ending, but also the meaning and purpose. Without such a paradigm, astrological techniques would not be possible; astrological charts, such as the natal chart, simply would not function. That is why the 1st degree of the Zodiac carries exceptional importance and symbolizes the beginning of new cycles.

According to available astrological calculations, the last time Saturn and Neptune met at precisely this point was more than 9,000 years ago - in a period that coincides with the emergence of agriculture and the beginning of sedentary culture as a civilizational pattern. In other words, we are speaking about the beginning of civilization as we know it.

That is why this event is so large: it is not only another transit, but an entirely new stage of collective evolution.

From the conjunction of Neptune and Saturn in Aries in 2026, we can expect the beginning of a new vision of humanity, one no longer based on collective illusions, but on responsible individuality. Visions are no longer only imagined - they are realized. The strength of the individual becomes a key instrument of change. It is as if a "new book" is opening - not only a new chapter - in which we will all learn together how to build a world based on personal authenticity, spiritual clarity, and the courage to act.

What does this mean for me as an individual?

Beyond the enormous collective importance that this conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at the 1st degree of Aries has for the world as a whole, its influence can be very personal and direct, especially if you have important planets or points (for example, the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, MC, Mercury, Venus, Mars...) near the 1st degree of Aries - or in strong aspects to that point (square, opposition, trine).

If this conjunction touches your natal horoscope, you enter a period of deep redefinition of life direction, identity, and vocation. You may experience:

  • a call to realize a vision that you have carried within yourself for a long time, but have not yet known how to make concrete,
  • pressure to take responsibility for something you may have been postponing - now there is no more hiding,
  • a maturation of ideals, where you realize that true spirituality and vision do not mean escape from reality, but its conscious shaping.

This can be a transformative, but also demanding time - Neptune may draw you into a search for higher meaning, while Saturn asks for action, structure, and discipline. Together they want you to turn the dream into a deed, and if you try to flee your own growth, the feeling of pressure may become even stronger. This is a period when personal courage, spiritual clarity, and readiness to act will determine the direction in which your life develops in the coming years. Something is ending - but more importantly - something large is beginning.

Who will feel this transit most strongly?

The conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 1 degree Aries will be felt most strongly by those who have planets, axes, or other key points of the horoscope:

  • between 27 degrees 45' Pisces and 3 degrees 45' Aries,
  • and in aspects (square, opposition, trine) from the signs of Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
  • the closer the aspect, the stronger the influence

Here is how that influence might appear depending on which planet is activated:

  • Sun - A major turning point in personal identity, vocation, and purpose. You may feel the call of something larger, but also the need for discipline and structure in order to realize it.
  • Moon - Inner restlessness, emotional maturation, a need for spiritual shelter and a redefinition of the feeling of security.
  • Ascendant - The whole direction of life and personal approach undergo deep changes. A time to begin again - as if starting a "new life."
  • Saturn - Activates karmic lessons, but also great strength for achieving lasting success if you are ready to work on long-term goals.
  • Neptune (in Capricorn and Libra) - Heightened intuition and spiritual insights, but also the danger of escaping reality. Wakefulness and clear vision are needed.
  • Mercury - Mental saturation or a call to move from the verbal and mental into action; a time when words must become concrete deeds.
  • Venus - Relationships enter a period of testing. Deep honesty, commitment, and clarity of intention are required in love and values.
  • Mars - A call to act with a higher aim, but on the condition that you stop forcing and learn to act from alignment rather than impulse.

Those with an emphasized sign of Aries (or with planets at the beginning of the cardinal signs) may experience this as the beginning of a life period in which they become leaders in their environment - but through lessons that require great responsibility and inner clarity.
